This tour includes the two most recommended activities to do Zanzibar which are the Kuza Cave and the rock restaurant
This trip will start with the Kuza Cave ( jambiani )Kuza Cave in Jambiani, East Coast Zanzibar offers a unique experience for adventurous nature-lovers, snorkellers, divers and people interested in Swahili Culture. The cave is a 50 metre round sink hole in the middle of a small jungle in Jambiani, East Coast Zanzibar. Cross a small bridge and walk down a few stairs to enter an underground oasis. The circular shape of the cave is a result of over 250,000 years of rainwater eroding the limestone. A large natural rock sculpture in the shape of an elephant is used by locals as an alter to make offerings to the spirits who live in the cave and request their support.
The cave is accessible by a few stairs and wooden decking so people with a general fitness level can enjoy this hidden wonder tucked away in the tropical jungle of Jambiani. At the base of the cave there is a crystal clear pool made from seepage from the underground water table and subterranean rivers. The fresh (sweet) water is cold but refreshing!Dozens of Red Colobus, Vervet and Skyes Monkeys visit the cave every few days. There are excellent photo opportunities for those who have the patience for cave photography!
Then later will go to the Rock Restaurant, Sometimes in life there are places that you dream to visit, that are so incredible that you almost dont even believe that they are real. They stay in your mind like a fairytale dream. That place for me was The Rock Restaurant in Zanzibar. The whimsical restaurant built on a very large rock and thriving right in the middle of the ocean. I always saw pictures of it, but honestly never really knew if it was a real place or not!
What used to be an outpost for the fisherman of the village of Michamvi was turned into one of Zanzibars most famous sites. The Floating Restaurant, The Restaurant in the Middle of the Ocean, The Place on the Rock or however it may be known is certainly one of the coolest places in Zanzibar, and quite honestly, the world.
